Mechanical Engineer

Location: Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey
Employment Type: Full-Time

Total Technology has a full-time position available, in Picatinny Arsenal, for a Mechanical Engineer with 4+ years of experience. This person will support government programs by providing Mechanical Engineering support including gun hardened electronics packaging, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), solid modeling, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), hardware assembly, electro-mechanical integration, and system testing in addition to support activities, including the entire spectrum of design and system engineering functions from concept to production and fielding.


  • Support the design and development of high reliability fuze electro-mechanical systems within the Power, Microelectronics and Integration Team

  • Support conceptual modeling of components, subassemblies and system integration, as well as the detailed design and drafting of drawings to complete a TDP

  • Design mechanical components, assemblies, mechanisms, and electronic packaging/integration concepts for gun-hardened electro-mechanical and electronic fuze systems in the CREO solid modeling environment

  • Produce reports for design, analysis and testing

  • Complete FEA simulations using ABAQUS to estimate performance in key munition environments (setback, spin, vibration, etc.)

  • Participate in Integrated Product Team meetings

  • Perform advanced to expert troubleshooting and repair techniques on manufacturing equipment, electrical, electronic or mechanical systems

  • Perform structural integrity analysis utilizing state-of-the-art software simulation and classical hand calculations


  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Secret security clearance required

  • Four years of experience troubleshooting in the specific discipline

  • Proficiency with signal processing circuits, firmware and software, electronic circuit hardware and electrical and software concepts related to the specific requirement

  • Knowledge of test engineering planning, scheduling and management of product, and component test activities.

  • Knowledge of Army fuze systems

  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and relationship skills

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work well within a team

  • Highly detail oriented with excellent organizational skills

  • Please note that US Citizenship is required to work on a military installation.
